ORLANDO, FL – Fresh off its inaugural event to raise funding for military golf courses, OSMG is set to visit the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, FL to continue developing relationships with industry leaders and spread awareness about OSMG and its unique mission.

The PGA Merchandise Show gathers over 40,000 industry leaders, who represent more than 74 countries. In addition, PGA Tour Pros such as Bubba Watson will attend the event and perform demonstrations through his sponsors Ping and Oakley.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – OSMG is proud to announce the addition of VADM Jim Amerault, USN (Ret.) to its Advisory Council. VADM Amerault brings a wealth of leadership and knowledge to OSMG from both his distinguished naval and civilian careers.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, VADM Amerault commanded USS NICHOLAS (FFG 47), USS SAMUEL GOMPERS (AD 37), Destroyer Squadron SIX, Amphibious Group FOUR, and the Western Hemisphere Group. In his final assignment, he served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Fleet Readiness and Logistics).

In the civilian sector, VADM Amerault most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of OTO MELARA, North America, Inc., a subsidiary of an Italian weapons manufacturing firm specializing in naval and land artillery systems and combat vehicles.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem recently recorded a public service announcement in support of Operation Support Military Golf. As the son of a U.S. Marine who lived on military bases and grew up playing military golf courses at those bases, Finchem knows first-hand the importance of golf to service members.

“I just want to congratulate everybody for this support of this great cause to revive the golf courses at military facilities around the country,” said Finchem.

“In many ways, the military, our men and women in uniform, and golf have a lot in common. The core values and the basic instincts of players and the military are very much line in terms of what we believe. So, I think that anything we can do to assist in the quality of life for our men and women in uniform is worth doing.”

The public service announcement will be aired as part of the OSMG Invitational on November 22 and 23.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Arnold Palmer Design Company and MacCurrach Golf Construction recently visited Windy Harbor Golf Club, the first military golf course to benefit from Operation Support Military Golf (OSMG) as well as the site of the inaugural Operation Support Military Golf Invitational.

Mr. Brandon Johnson, VP and Senior GC Architect of Arnold Palmer Design Company, and Mr. Brian Almony, President of MacCurrach Golf Construction, visited Windy Harbor and met with OSMG on the initial site visit to discuss plans, timelines, and golf course improvements.

“We are extremely grateful for Arnold Palmer Design Company and Mr. Johnson as well as MacCurrach Golf Construction and Mr. Almony for their willingness to provide their time and talent to Operation Support Military Golf,” said Jennifer Poth, OSMG Chairman & CEO.

“Serving our military and their families through golf with professionals such as these gentlemen and their respective teams is what makes my job so rewarding.”

The emphasis for the initial site visit was to provide the beginning steps towards an enhanced short game facility at Windy Harbor to be completed after the OSMG Invitational which will occur in November 2015.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL – Operation Support Military Golf (OSMG) has released a new slogan to increase its branding and allow people to more easily identify with the non-profit’s purpose.

“Reviving the Golf Courses that Revitalize our Heroes” comes from the non-profit’s mission statement to improve military golf courses for the morale, welfare, and recreation of service members past and present as well as their families.

“It took some time to develop, but having a simplified and impactful way to describe Operation Support Military Golf’s mission is both necessary and extremely useful,” says OSMG Chairman & CEO, Jennifer Poth. “People have really connected to it.”

The slogan will become more than words as OSMG prepares for its inaugural event in November 2015. The non-profit is holding an invitational at Windy Harbor Golf Club on Naval Station Mayport where it hopes to raise in excess of $1 million to improve the golf course and its facilities.
